Rebuild Your Stash With $150
The premise is that you have $150 and you have to use that to re-buy all of your makeup!  I think this is a great way to share what items I think are affordable and of good quality.  Most of the stuff below I have gotten cheaper during sales or with coupons, but if it was an emergency and I needed to re-buy all of this stuff I wouldn’t have that luxury so everything below is obviously retail.  Also, nothing on here is limited edition.  Took this from http://saffiremoon21.tumblr.com/ :)

Liner-and-Lashes Makeup Challenge: Day 10

Day 10. If you were given $100 to spend on makeup, what would you spend it on? List products and their prices.  Final day of challenge!

If I had $100 I had to spend on makeup, I would probably get some stuff that has been on my ebay watch list for a while.

L’Oreal Infallible eyeshadows-I have especially been on the hunt for the “It’s Gold or Nothing at All” LE shadows from this summer (Pink Sapphire, Gold Imperial, & Gleaming Bronze).  I have had no luck in any of my local stores :(  I would estimate these at about $12 a piece on ebay since they are so hard to find.

Image from Citrine’s Blog.

Sally Hansen Nail Prisms in Amber Ruby (approx $13) and Diamond (approx $20).

OPI Katy Perry Collection Teenage Dream (approx. $12)

Hard Candy Beetle (approx. $5)

Image from Lacquer Me Silly.

Black Radiance Fine Line Liquid Eyeliner (approx. $3)

88 Metal Mania Eyeshadow Palette ($11 on ebay, more on coastalscents)

3.  Prime eyes with UDPP in Eden.

4.  Apply eyeshadow.

5.  Clean up fallout/put on a combo of moisturizer/foundation/spf/primer

Liner-and-Lashes Makeup Challenge: Day 8

Day 8. Eight Favorite Nail Colors (and their brands)

This one was really hard!  I like really glittery and unique polishes, so this one was extra hard for me since almost everything in my collection is pretty odd.

L to R:  1. Sally Hansen Nail Prisms in South Sea Pearl-a beautiful sheer opalescent color that flashes pearly turquoise.  I love wearing two coats of it with opalescent glitter, or over a black polish (if I still had Amber Ruby, Turquoise Opal, or Diamond these would be on the list).  2.  Revlon Smoldering-a multichrome polish that appears a shimmering grey, purple, and green.  3.  Julep Yumi-a glitter polish with densely packed pink mircoglitter and larger holographic glitters.  4.  Zoya Adina-Another vivid multichrome.  This one is strong on lavender and a poisonous green color; sometimes you can see a pinkish shine on the edges of the nail.  5.  Zoya Delilah-a bright ruby red polish with a jelly like base and fine red microglitter.  Everyone should own a red like this!  It’s similar to China Glaze-Ruby Pumps and Milani-Ruby Jewels.  6.  Love & Beauty Glistening Purple (Forever 21’s brand-name not on label)-A sheer shimmery blue-pink duochrome.  7.  Wet n Wild Eggplant Frost-a darkened blurple-magenta duochrome.  8.  Butter London Tart with a Heart-a clear base with mostly gold and a touch of black microglitters, as well as larger opalescent glitters.  It’s a super gorgeous and complex shade!  It’s perfect for layering; if you put it on top of a black polish it’s practically galaxy nail art in a bottle.

Liner-and-Lashes Makeup Challenge: Day 5 & 6

Oops!  Of course I am running behind.  Here are two posts combined to catch up.

Day 5. Five Favorite Makeup Brushes

L to R: Real Techniques Base Shadow Brush-this is great for packing on shadows and can also be used for blending.  Random angled brush I got from a cheap set at The Icing/Claire’s-I like how small it is and that it doesn’t shed.  I use this everyday for my eyebrow powder.  MyGlam All Over Shadow Brush-I use this to put highlighter under my eyebrows almost everyday (when not using my finger).  ELF Studio Flawless Concealer Brush-I use this for buffing out my crease.  Dense, soft bristles that do not shed for only $3!  ELF Studio Powder Brush-This is my go to for applying finishing powder.  Overall, I love ELF’s Studio collection brushes.  I didn’t include my blush brush because I could only list five and if needed I could just use my fingers.  I also love a super skinny eyeliner brush but I am currently looking for a new one but have been getting by with a Real Techniques one.

Day 6. Six Favorite Makeup Brands

I’m cheating and listing my high end favorites and drugstore favorites!

High end: Urban Decay, Too Faced, Kat Von D, Benefit, Stila, Make Up For Ever.

Drugstore: Wet n Wild, ELF (studio line), NYX, Milani, L’Oreal, Revlon.

See the challenge post here.

Liner-and-Lashes Makeup Challenge: Day 4

Day 4. Four Makeup Products You Can’t Live Without

You can see some of my favorites below:

1.  Urban Decay Primer Potion in Eden-The primer in the old bottle keeps my eyeshadow on all day and also fixes discoloration (don’t like the stuff in the new bottle as much-will have to find a replacement primer soon).

2.  Urban Decay’s 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Midnight Cowboy-This has been my go to for a lower lashline liner since their anniversary set came out.  It brightens my eyes and is just a great everyday shade.  I hope it becomes permanent.

3.  Buxom Lash Mascara in Blackest Black-I feel like mascara is something that a lot of people struggle with (as in finding their HG one).  I do not know if this is my HG, but I have tried a fair amount of mascaras and this is a solid one for everyday and is also a great layering mascara for more dramatic results.

4.  Setting Powder-I think that this is a must have for completing your look.  It helps makeup last longer, it can help disguise imperfections, and it can keep oil at bay for a while.  As of now, my favorite is Make Up For Ever.  However, it is pretty pricey.  I might switch to MAC Prep+Prime or find some wholesale silica powder on ebay as recommended by glitterjunkiemakeup :)

Liner-and-Lashes Makeup Challenge: Day 3

Day 3. Three Makeup Products You Wish You Had

1.  Kat Von D’s Mi Vida Loca Palette:  I thought this was eventually going to go on sale as most of the other Kat Von D palettes have.  I was wrong though, and now it’s out of stock!  Originally retailed for $36.

2.  Tarina Tarantino Dollskin Cheek Palette:  I don’t have tons of blushes and I heard that her blushes are awesome.  Retails for $45 and I don’t wanna drop that much money.

Sephora Prisma Chrome Eyeshadow in Emerald Facet:  This is also something that sold out.  I saw it in store and thought it looked beautiful.  It retailed for $15 and was hoping it would eventually go on sale.  Some of the other ones did, but this color was long gone before that happened.

Liner-and-Lashes Makeup Challenge: Day 2

Day 2. Two Makeup Products You Would Not Recommend

1) Urban Decay’s Tinted Moisturizer (discontinued)-I’ve complained about this before.  the coverage is weird, it isn’t moisturizing, it’s heavy.  You can read more of my complaints here.

2) Sephora’s Anti-Shine Primer-I got this from the sale section on Sephora’s website a couple months back.  I’ve only used it once because it just makes my face look so weird.  I mixed a pea sized amount into my foundation/moisturizer combo and it mattified to the point where it looked extremely unnatural and bizarre.  I think it’s silicone based, but I feel like I’ve tried other things with silicone in them that did not have such an extreme effect.  Anyway, I guess it does what it claims, but I’m not really having it.

You can check out the challenge post here.

Day 1. One Makeup Product You Use Everyday.

I would say that I use Sephora’s nano liner in white everyday on my waterline.  However, they recently reformulated the pencils (the newer ones have a black cap and mine has a clear one) and the newer ones don’t show up on the waterline as well.  When mine runs out, I need to find a new one.

Any recommendations for a white eyeliner pencil for the waterline?

DSP Makeup Challenge: Day 13 & 14

Yeah, so this thing took me like a month to do, but here are the last two days.

Day 13:  Why do you wear makeup?  For self-confidence, to impress others, or simply because it’s fun?

Most definitely because it is fun!  I think that makeup is a way to express yourself and I enjoy playing around with colors and glitter.  It is definitely not to impress other people, in fact, I have heard a lot of shit about how I should do more natural looking makeup. Whatever, that crap is boring!  I also guess I would say that sometimes it is for self confidence as well.  No one wants to go out with a huge red zit on their face!

Day 14:  What is a makeup look you’d like to recreate?  Picture!!

I’m thinking that I would like to re-create the Roy Lichtenstein style comic book lady look for Halloween this year…

DSP Makeup Challenge: Day 11

Day 11:  What is your normal daily makeup routine?  Post a picture if you’d like!

Here are some of the basics that I reach for almost daily.

In the morning, the first product I put on my face is toner (after cleansing).  Then I prime my eyes with UDPP in Eden and put on my eyeshadow.  I often use Korres’s White eyeshadow on my inner corners.  I also have been using L’Oreal’s Infallible eyeshadow in Iced Latte a lot (it does not crease at all and I am always having issues even with primer since my eyelids are so oily).  Then I add whatever random colors I want to use.  I almost always use Sephora’s nano liner in White on my waterline.  My go to liner for my lower lashline is Urban Decay’s 24/7 Liner in Midnight Cowboy and Kat Von D’s Autograph Liner in Puro Amor is my go to for my upper lashline.  I almost always use a combo of Maybelline’s Great Lash and Buxom Lash on my lashes.  On my eyebrows I mostly use Anastasia’s Brow Powder Duo in Ash Blonde.

After I do my eyes, I clean up any fallout and then put on a combo of my primer/moisturizer/foundation.  I use Urban Decay’s 24/7 Concealer in CIA over any imperfections.  Then I put on some blush.  One of my favorites, Benefit’s Coralista, is pictured.  Then I dust on a small amount of a Finishing Powder, Make Up For Ever’s HD Powder being my favorite.  I constantly use chapstick and my favorite lipgloss to top it off with is Urban Decay’s Lip Junkie in Midnight Cowboy.  Also pictured are some Tweezerman tweezers (my favs) and two of my favorite brushes, a travel sized Sonia Kashuk smudge brush and a random brow filling brush.

DSP Makeup Challenge: Day 10

Day 10:  What is your biggest makeup pet peeve?

For myself-Sometimes your eyeliner takes forever because you can’t get it to match right!  On many workdays I just skip it altogether because I don’t wanna obsess about it and end up being late.

For others-cakey makeup, foundation that doesn’t match skin, orange tanned skin, various eyebrow atrocities (I made a little post about how they should be spaced here), fucked up eyeliner, crunchy eyelashes, gross nails.

DSP Makeup Challenge: Day 9

Oops!  Way behind on this challenge, I have been out and about recently!

Day 9:  What are the last two makeup products you used up completely?  Would you purchase them again?

Urban Decay’s Tinted Moisturizer-I already bitched about this product in my previous post and would definitely say no.

Deluxe sample of Benefit’s CORALista-This blush is a beautiful coral pink with gold sheen.  It also smells really nice.  On the downside, the full size it quite pricey ($28).  I have a full size after a makeup swap with one of my friends :)  Luckily, I think that one will last me quite a while.  When I run out hopefully I can figure out a way to get another deluxe sample or can get it on sale.  So yeah, I would get it again but not for full price.
