DSP Makeup Challenge: Day 11
Day 11: What is your normal daily makeup routine? Post a picture if you’d like!

Here are some of the basics that I reach for almost daily.
In the morning, the first product I put on my face is toner (after cleansing). Then I prime my eyes with UDPP in Eden and put on my eyeshadow. I often use Korres’s White eyeshadow on my inner corners. I also have been using L’Oreal’s Infallible eyeshadow in Iced Latte a lot (it does not crease at all and I am always having issues even with primer since my eyelids are so oily). Then I add whatever random colors I want to use. I almost always use Sephora’s nano liner in White on my waterline. My go to liner for my lower lashline is Urban Decay’s 24/7 Liner in Midnight Cowboy and Kat Von D’s Autograph Liner in Puro Amor is my go to for my upper lashline. I almost always use a combo of Maybelline’s Great Lash and Buxom Lash on my lashes. On my eyebrows I mostly use Anastasia’s Brow Powder Duo in Ash Blonde.
After I do my eyes, I clean up any fallout and then put on a combo of my primer/moisturizer/foundation. I use Urban Decay’s 24/7 Concealer in CIA over any imperfections. Then I put on some blush. One of my favorites, Benefit’s Coralista, is pictured. Then I dust on a small amount of a Finishing Powder, Make Up For Ever’s HD Powder being my favorite. I constantly use chapstick and my favorite lipgloss to top it off with is Urban Decay’s Lip Junkie in Midnight Cowboy. Also pictured are some Tweezerman tweezers (my favs) and two of my favorite brushes, a travel sized Sonia Kashuk smudge brush and a random brow filling brush.
Just wanted to tell my fellow Americans that I found 3 Models Own polishes from the Beetlejuice collection at Urban Outfitters! I was ecstatic as it costs like $32 just for shipping when ordering from the Models Own website. The bottles were $10 each though :(
DSP Makeup Challenge: Day 8
Day 8: How many new products to you usually purchase per month? What is the most recent makeup purchase you’ve made?
I am not exactly sure. Sometimes I go a while without making any purchases. However, when I make some I usually get a lot of stuff because I order online a lot and usually order enough to use a coupon code and/or get free shipping. So, I would say usually somewhere in the ballpark of 12-15 items. This month it was 17.
My most recent purchase was a Dermstore/Ulta order that I made for my birthday (April 4). The Ulta order included items that were 40% off (NYX, Physicians Formula, and Revlon), a BOGO 1/2 off (Maybelline) plus I used a $10 off of $60 and I also got a sweet gift with purchase bag. You can see the gift with purchase on Haley’s blog, she also placed an order around the same time I did. The Dermstore order was made with a $25 off of $50 coupon. I have been getting more into polish lately and decided that I wanted to try some Butter London polishes (All Hail the Queen, Black Knight, and Tart with a Heart) at a more reasonable price (they are usually $14) and I got Essie’s Shine of the Times because it’s never in stock at any of the stores near me. Shipping was free for both orders. I plan on putting up a more detailed review of the Ulta haul soon.

Mineral Makeup Organization!

I saw a “make your own pigment palette” over on The Daily Swatch and thought it looked like a fabulous idea! I had a handful of sample baggies that were sitting around and not being used as much as they should be. It can kind of be a pain in the butt to dip your brushes in the bags; things can get messy pretty quickly. When I saw her post I thought that I would keep a look out for this bead organizer the next time I was in a Michael’s.
Basically, all I did was carefully pour out the contents of my Taylor Made Minerals (no longer in business ;___ ;) baggies into the jars. I made sure to scrape as much as possible in (using a clean brush), as I am not going to be able to buy any of those colors again. Then I transferred the labels on the baggies to the bottom of the jars. I decided that since I did not have anymore baggies to fill the remaining jars, I might as well put the rest of my pigments in the casing as well. The majority of the other brands are Pure Luxe and Fyrinnae. To fill remaining space, I also added in a depotted Urban Decay pigment (put in an Urban Decay Rocks container) and a UD color that was exclusive to a Sephora holiday set from ‘10 (Gypsy). I also have a Sephora glitter in there.
I think that this is cool because now I can just take this container off the shelf and unscrew a jar to use the colors. I do not think that this would be very practical if you have tons of baggies. Instead, I might recommend a pigment baggie notebook (like one you would put trading cards in). Also, the lids on the jars do not screw on very tightly. If they are handled roughly the pigment will get all throughout the part that screws closed. I do not plan on handling them roughly so this isn’t really an issue to me. Do you guys have any weird/creative ways you store your makeup?

Pro Sized Z Palette
I recently ordered a Pro sized Z Palette on ebay because I had 3 depotted shadows that needed homes. I thought, why get a small one when I can just get rid of some bulky palettes and fill up a big one? I paid $19 including shipping for this one. It was a factory blemish so that is why I didn’t have to spend the standard $28 for this palette. There is barely a dent on one of the corners, so if you do not want to get a Z Palette from a regular retailer, you should look for a deal on ebay!

These are all of the palettes that I got my shadows from. I picked ones that I either have had for a long time and were looking quite worn, or ones in which the packaging was just incredibly bulky and taking up a lot of space. Removing shadows from palettes is way easier than depotting them so I was up to this task. Basically, all I did was get a knife and pop them out of their slots. The cardboard quickly gives away and there is usually only small amounts of glue keeping them in place. I didn’t do a great job cleaning off the glue, but figured who cares as the shadows are gonna stay in this palette (this isn’t a palette that I am going to use to switch out different pans of stuff all the time).
I did manage to scrape a couple shadows with my nails/the knife and that pissed me off. Also, Darkhorse is very soft and was almost critically injured but is now in stable condition. So, at least there were no casualties and I am pretty happy with the end results. If you plan on putting some of your shadows into a Z Palette, you should probably make sure that you have some magnet sheets in case the shadows are not in a metal pan. This applied to my MAC shadow and the small Too Faced shadows from their Liquif-Eye Palette. Luckily, my MAC shadow had been bought already depotted and magnetized and my Too Faced shadows stayed put because of their tight fit (next time I will be more prepared).

The Z Palette closed-I love that the lid is clear! You can see that there is a dent in the right top corner.

I created a chart instead of putting a label on each eyeshadow. The original post of this chart is here so you can click to enlarge if you wish.
Preview of my upcoming Z Palette post :)
OMG I bought this today on ebay for $150 (including shipping) and if I had bought each thing individually it would have been like $400! I know it’s a lot of money to drop at once, but I am gonna resell like half of it and gift a couple things (you can check out my listings here, I usually put up makeup lots on Sundays). I had been looking for a deal on the Black Palette and the Deluxe Palette for a while so I am quite excited. *faints*
I love the colors I got for free during their New Year’s promo! Zoya’s Faye and Adina.
