Distinctive Makeup
EMPTIES!  L to R, back row to front row:
Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel Travel Sized and Medium Sized:  This is my HG Moisturizer!  Great for oily skin.  I think I’m on my 4th or 5th bottle now.
L’Oreal Hydrafresh Toner:  This is great for sensitive skin!  Removes any traces of makeup/residue that might be leftover after washing.  I’m on my 2nd bottle now.
John Frieda Go Blonder Lightening Spray:  I’m on my 2nd bottle of this now, too.  This was on my favorites of 2012 list.  Check it out here.
Ren Frankincense & Boswellia Serrata Revitalising Repair Night Cream deluxe sample:  I wasn’t in love with this.  I feel like it was a bit greasy and had a strong eucalyptus scent to it.  Full size is $56, so no thank you.
Murad Skin Perfecting Primer deluxe sample:  This stuff was way too dark for me and was pretty orange; I also think this is the only shade it comes in.  I mixed a little bit into my foundation when I was a bit “tanner” during late summer/fall so it served its purpose.  Would not buy.
Dr. Brandt Collagen Booster deluxe sample:  There wasn’t as much product in this tube as I thought there would be.  I can’t really remember if it did anything, so I guess it wasn’t too great…
Urban Decay Skyscraper Mascara deluxe sample:  This is quite old and I don’t know why it was still laying around.  I don’t remember it wowing me, would not purchase.
Sephora by O.P.I. Hydrate Base Coat:  This was my 2nd bottle, but I didn’t finish it because 1) It was getting goopy/hard to get out of the bottle and 2) my nails didn’t seem very “hydrated”/were still peeling.  Not going to re-purchase.
Caudalie Vinexpert Night Infusion Cream deluxe sample: I feel like there wasn’t enough in the tube to make a decision about this product.  Full size is $75, so no thank you.
L’Oreal Quad in Blazen:  This quad is way old so I figured I should throw it out.  This used to be one of my essential pieces (that beige is almost all gone) when I still had a tiny collection.  Would re-purchase, but I’m not sure if these are still around :(

Stash Clean Out/Finished Products:

Welp, these pictures have been sitting in my drafts for a couple months now :/  I have another batch of finished products to show, so I figured I should put this up!

1. Sephora complete lip balm:  When I had thrown it away, it was probably like a year and a half old.  :/  I got it on sale because they were discontinuing it.  I liked it a lot!  It had a mild vanilla taste and was moisturizing and not overly waxy.  I wish they still sold it.

2. NYX Eyeshadow Trio in Tropical/Yellow/Lime Green: I absolutely loved this!  The pigmentation is excellent and the texture is like butter.  Tropical is such a unique orangish pink, the yellow is a satiny buttercup, and the lime green is a shimmery lime that isn’t over the top.  This was one of my first makeup items that I bought in high school.  In this picture is the first one that I bought.  I recently found it shoved in a box and decided to take a picture for old times sake.  I actually had bought a second one after this one basically died (the clear plastic is knocked out and the green is totally gone), but I lost it.  I really want to buy a third one, but I can’t find this exact one on their website anymore :(  Off to ebay!

3.  Honey House Mango Lip Butter:  This was a present.  I didn’t really like it.  I don’t really appreciate Mango flavored things, and it was waxy tasting on top of it.  Instead of moisturizing, it would kinda saturate my lips and make the skin slough off.

4. Physician’s Formula Lipgloss Tin (?): This is old as hell!  I think I bought it the same time I bought the NYX trio for the first time.  I don’t know exactly what it was called because the info on the back had rubbed off.  I hadn’t used it in forever, but thought that the glitter was so pretty (see below).  Realized it was taking up space and it is gross so I threw it away.  Back when I still used it, it wasn’t that great.  It wasn’t really moisturizing and made your lips look oily with big pieces of glitter on it.  No wonder it was discontinued.

5.  Sephora lipgloss:  This was in a set of 3 mini glosses that they gave you for your birthday like 2 years ago.  I obviously didn’t use it much.  Old, so it’s a throw out.

6.  Blistex Silk and Shine:  This was another balm that made my lips slough off.  The taste was a bit off, too.

7.  Too Faced Lash Light Mascara: I had gotten this in a kit like a year or so ago?  Used it only a couple times.  There is a mirror built into the side of the tube that fell out the first time I used it.  The formula was a bit dry for my taste.  The light idea is cool, though.

8.  Anastasia Brow Gel sample: Love it!  The full size is so expensive, though.  I’ll stick to the clear Maybelline Great Lash for setting my brows.

9.  Make Up For Ever Smoky Lash sample:  Love it!  Used it sporadically until it got too old.  I want to pick up a full size, eventually.

10.  Amore Pacific Moisture Bound Eye Complex sample:  I don’t know what to say about this.  It helps make your eyes less puffy, I guess?  I feel like it doesn’t absorb very well and I definitely won’t be buying a full size.

11.  Bare Minerals Matte Foundation:  I do not like this (especially for the price).  It makes me look orange and cakey.  I much prefer liquid foundation.

Project Pan->Finished Products

Yeah, so a while back I tried to do a project pan and failed.  So now I am not on a no buy but I do want to document products that I end up finishing.  Here are a couple now.

Both of these items are good, but I do not know if I would buy either of them again.  Korres makes some awesome primers, but they are quite expensive at $33 for a 1.01 oz tube.  I have never bought a full sized one but have been lucky to be able to snag the 0.33 size a couple different times as perks or in value sets.  If I were ever to buy a full sized one, it would be their Quercetin and Oak primer because it also has anti-aging properties.  As for the John Frieda hair masque, it was nice.  I got it after someone else didn’t use all of it.  My hair is really oily, so I do not like to deep condition too much.  I did add some lemon juice into it and I like the effect it had on my hair.

I got a big ass chunk of Bohemian soap from Lush after Christmas when it was BOGO/50% off.  It has a nice fresh lemon scent to it and I liked it a lot.  It wasn’t drying but wasn’t overly moisturizing either (I just looked that it actually is made for oily skin).  It is a soap that is nice to use when you are waking up (as are most other citrus scented things, I think).  I would definitely buy this again!

My friend got this for me for Christmas and I am really sad that it is gone!  It is excellent!  It feels really refreshing and isn’t harsh.  It has a mixture of tea tree oil which is an antiseptic and also has grapefruit which is good for controlling oily skin.  I also like that it is in a spray bottle.  I definitely will not be going back to alcohol based toners, which seem to make my skin compensate for being dried out by producing excess oils.  I need to grab some more soon.

Project Pan: 10, 11 & 12 plus FAIL

I recently finished a bottle of Urban Decay’s Tinted Moisturizer that I got in November during their Friends & Family sale.  So, one bottle lasted me about 4 months, though I did cut this moisturizer with Clinique’s Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel.  I did this because it is surprisingly thick and not so moisturizing.  If you used it the way I did without mixing in more moisturizer, I think it would probably only last 2-3 months.  The pump also dispensed too much product.  I bought two at the time because they were around $5 each and I will be using the second bottle.  However, it definitely would have not been worth it if I bought it at its regular price (I don’t remember the full price for the old packaging, but the new larger size is 1.69 fl. oz. for $30).  I hope they changed the formulation with the new tubes!  When I am through with these I will try another kind of foundation.

Btw, on my nails is Zoya’s Delilah and my ring finger is topped with Sephora by OPI’s Don’t be Eggnogious.

I have had this deluxe sample of this night cream for a while and finally used it up.  I haven’t yet met a Korres product I do not like.  All of their Quercetin & Oak formulas give visible results (though I have yet to form deep wrinkles).  Some people might not be able to deal with the scent (smells similar to Play Doh) but this does not bother me.

I thought I had taken a picture of my finished deluxe sized tube, but I guess I threw it away before I got the chance.  I also really like H2O+ and this stuff was very moisturizing without being heavy.  There are some weird beads in it though that were not very mushable so I just swept them off my face after rubbing the lotion in.

So bad news:  I FAILED this Project Pan.  I saw Sephora’s NARS VIB promo and really wanted to get the stuff so I placed an order :(  It did not help that I had an online credit sitting on my account, either.  Since I broke it, I also ended up indulging in Zoya’s Valentine’s Promo (Delilah was the red I picked out) and I did some drugstore haulage from Ulta in which I got a few L’Oreal Infallible shadows and a Physician’s Formula Shimmer Strip.  I will show these off soon, since I love both!  As far as this failed Project Pan, maybe I should have started out with a smaller number.  I want to keep documenting finishing my products, but not totally restrict myself from buying.  Any suggestions on how I could change the “rules?”

Project Pan: 9 out of 20

Like I said before, I am addicted to the travel sized section at Target and I also really like St. Ives.  I get really dry skin on my elbows during the winter and I this stuff is awesome for that.  The scent is nice and smells way better than their collagen/elastin formula.  I might end up getting a full sized next year when it gets cold again.

Project Pan: 8 out of 20

This is Maybelline’s Expertwear Eyeshadow in 10 Vanilla.  I have had this for quite a while and used it a lot until I found my HG Korres shadow.  After I hit the pan on that one, I started using this again.  It is a nice basic white with a slight shimmer finish.  I’m going to continue using it, but probably won’t replace it when it is totally gone.

Project Pan: 7 out of 20

Here is the UDPP that I bought as soon as the new packaging was available on Sephora.com.  I feel like the formula is different than the one that was in the old genie style bottle!  I definitely have experienced a bit of creasing with this one when used alone.  However, it could have been due to the fact that I was used to the doe foot applicator and could have been applying too much.  To get through this tube I mixed a bit of the tube formula with the old bottle formula.  Luckily, I had stocked up on the old formula during the holidays.  After I go through those bottles, I might switch to TFSI.

Project Pan: 6 out of 20

I’m addicted to the travel sized section in Target!  I really like St. Ives and decided that I wanted to try this out.  It is nice and does seem to be moisturizing.  I have another travel sized back up but wouldn’t buy a full size since I have other bath stuff to go through and because I like to switch up products often.

Project Pan: 5 out of 20

Here is a deluxe sample of Laura Mercier’s tinted moisturizer in Nude.  OMG I love this stuff so much but it is so expensive ($42 for the regular size) so I used this sparingly since the summer.  It’s all used up now :(  Hopefully I can afford to buy it when I get a paying job.

Project Pan: 4 out of 20

This is a deluxe sample of Benefit’s Coralista blush I got over the summer.  I used to not really wear blush but fell in love and went through this one pretty quickly :)  Luckily I did a makeup swap with a friend and have a regular sized one to use when this one is all gone.

Project Pan: 3 out of 20

Here is my beloved Korres Sunflower and Evening Primrose Eyeshadow in White (the poor thing has been through a lot, lol).  It is my HG white shadow and I will have to hit up ebay soon to get a replacement as they do not sell their eyeshadow in the US anymore :(  Until I get a replacement this one isn’t getting touched.

Good luck on your project pan. I'm technically doing one too, except project lets get rid of anything I can! Lol! Hope you're having a wonderful day. :)

Thanks, I am going to need it.  The day I started I went to Target and saw a beautiful display of both Maybelline’s new Color Tattoo shadows/their Dream Bouncy blushes and L’Oreal’s Infallible shadows and I cursed myself for not waiting one more day, lol.  Hope you use up some of your stuff, too!

Project Pan

So, I did some major haulage in December due to all of the great holiday sets and palettes that were out (as well as some cool stuff on Hautelook).  I really need to stop buying stuff and use the huge stockpile I have.  I saw that thescienceofchic is doing a “Project Pan” right now and decided that I should do one too (especially since I just finished one of my facial lotions and mascaras, lol).  So, I am going to use up/”hit the pan” on 20 products before I am allowed to buy anything again (not counting presents for other people).

What counts: Nail products, skin care products, makeup, hair products, “fancy” bath products.

What does not count: Samples (deluxe sized items do count), personal hygiene products (for example, my regular shampoo does not count; however, a fancy scrub or shower gel that I do not regularly use and will not replace does).

So yeah, here are the first two items that have been finished :)  Started 1/3/12

1. Buxom Lash Mascara in Blackest Black

2. Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel
